About
Cassandra Calabrese is a Connecticut-based artist and illustrator who studied fine arts at Lyme College in of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT, majoring in painting and minoring in drawing. After attending Lyme Academy of Fine Arts and training in disciplines such as painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking, she received her degree in Art History from University of Connecticut. Cassandra is now an MFA candidate at the Univeristy of Hartford, studying Illustration.
Her artistic process often involves using a limited palette and limited media to create an intimate and cohesive narrative with the subject matter. Doing so allows her to fully delve into minute detail without too many competing components, and allows viewers the space to explore the work more deeply. This ritualistic and deeply intensive approach explores the intersection of personal narrative and the natural world. She aims to make viewers romanticize and respect the world around them.
